Men’s Hockey Fends Off Raiders 4-1

AUBURN, MA. – On Friday, January 19th the Anna Maria College men's hockey team hosted the Rivier University Raiders at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, MA. The AMCATS won the game 4-1.

With the Raiders coming off of two consecutive shut out performances, the AMCATS set the tone early with a goal from Braeden McKinnon just nine seconds into the first period. The goal came off the assist from Guillaume Coulombe. McKinnons goal would be the only one scored in the first period as the AMCATS went into the intermission with a 1-0 lead.

Trailing at the start of the second period, the Raiders evened the playing field early as Nicolas Paolucci tied the game up with a goal off a pass from Jake Laville just three minutes into the period. Tied up at one a piece, neither team would score for the rest of the period.

The AMCATS turned things up in the third period as Giovanni Perillo started things off with a goal just two minutes into the period. The AMCATS kept the momentum going with Coulombe scoring just a minute later off the pass from Brandon Della Paolera. Now leading 3-1 over the raiders to start the third period, the AMCATS maintained control of the game as they held off all of Riviers scoring attempts for the remainder of the period. Coulombe would add an insurance goal for the AMCATS with less than eight minutes left to play as the game closed out with a score of 4-1 in favor of the AMCATS.
