Hamelin Named GNAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass.—Freshman Ally Hamelin (Greenfield, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College softball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Hamelin earned her first career victory in her first collegiate start against Penn State-Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon. She scattered five hits and gave up just one run in the top of the fifth inning to aid Anna Maria to the 10-1 five-inning victory. The mercy-rule victory set her earned-run average at 1.40.
Hameline also fielded her position effectively, recording putouts on all three batted balls that came her way.
The AMCATS (1-1) are in the midst of an eight-game streak in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They begin day two of action today at 1:30 p.m. against Penn College.
