AMCATS blank Wilcats to capture non-conference win

PAXTON, Mass. (03.27.11) – The Anna Maria College men's tennis team earned its first win of the season with a 9-0 victory over Wheelock College at the Paxton Sports Centre on Sunday night. The win improves the AMCATS to 1-4 (0-3 TCCC) on the year, while the Wildcats fall to 0-2 (0-1 NECC).

Sophomore David Bourget (Winter Park, Fla.) and Adam Williamson (Spencer, Mass.) got things started for Anna Maria with an 8-2 victory in No.1 doubles action, while junior Mike Dandurand (Warwick, R.I.) and Haakim Ferguson (Boston, Mass.) followed with a flawless 8-0 win from the No. 2 doubles slot.

Bourget went on to earn a 6-0, 6-4 win in his No. 1 singles match, while Williamson and Ferguson cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins from the No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions, respectively. In addition, Dandurand took his No. 3 singles contest by a score of 6-1, 6-1, while freshman Jack Donaldson (Kittery, Maine) earned his first collegiate win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in No. 5 singles action.

The Wildcats will return to the court on Saturday when they travel to face Becker College at noon, while the AMCATS will look to keep things rolling when the take on Salve Regina in a TCCC matchup on Tuesday at 3:30 pm in Newport, R.I.
