Bison ace AMCATS on Tuesday

PAXTON, Mass. (04.12.11) – The Anna Maria College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Nichols College during a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match at Paxton Sports Centre on Tuesday night. With the win, the Bison improve to 11-4 overall and an impressive 8-0 in conference play. The loss drops the AMCATS to 2-9 on the season and 0-8 in the TCCC.

The Bison began the night by sweeping doubles play. The best match of the night came when AMC's David Bourget (Winter Park, Fla.) and Adam Williamson (Spencer, Mass.) paired up to battle NC's Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.) and Steve Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.) in No.1 doubles action. The two sides battled back-and-forth until McLaughlin and Carella managed to claw their way to an 8-6 victory. David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Isiah Prosper (Manchester, N.H.) paired up for a flawless 8-0 win in No.2 doubles play, while Piotr Pietruczuk (Norwich, Conn.) and Ari Viera (Pawtucket, R.I.) completed the sweep for the Bison by taking No.3 doubles, 8-1.

Nichols then finished the night by earning all six points in singles play. Drucker took No.1 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-1, while Prosper earned a 6-0, 6-1 win from the No.4 singles slot. Carella, McLaughlin, Pietruczuk, and Ryan Switzer rounded-out the day by capturing unblemished 6-0, 6-0 victories.

The AMCATS will return to the courts on Wednesday when they hit the road to face Clark at 3:30 pm, while the Bison play again on Thursday when they travel to battle Eastern Nazarene at 3:30 pm.
