AMCATS battle back for exciting 5-4 victory over Becker

WORCESTER, Mass. – (04.07.11) The Anna Maria College men's tennis team captured four of six singles matches to pull out a thrilling 5-4 victory over cross-town rival Becker College on Thursday night. The win improves the AMCATS to 2-7 (0-6 TCCC) on the year, while the Hawks drop to 0-3 (0-1 NECC) overall.

The Hawks took an early 2-1 lead by earning victories in No.2 and No.3 doubles. Branden Parkhouse and Tim Howard earned an 8-3 win from the No.2  doubles slot, while Matt Graham and Josh Rasmussen took No.3 doubles by a score of 8-4. Sophomores David Bourget (Winter Park, Fla.) and Adam Williamson (Spencer, Mass.)  teamed-up to earn Anna Maria's lone point in doubles action, pulling out an 8-5 win from the No.1 spot.

Bourget and Williamson were back at it in singles play, earning victories from the No. 1 and No.2 singles positions, respectively. Junior Mike Dandurand (Warwick, R.I.) took No.4 singles 6-4, 6-1, while freshman Jack Donaldson (Kittery, Maine) swept No.6 singles 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the come-from-behind victory for Anna Maria.

The AMCATS will look to keep things rolling when they take to the courts again on Saturday for a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match versus Endicott on the road starting at 1:00 pm.
