Goudreau Ties Tennis Singles Wins Record in 8-1 win at Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Senior Nicole Goudreau (Harrisville, R.I.) tied the Anna Maria College women's tennis career record for singles wins with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles in the AMCATS' 8-1 win against the Falcons on Albertus Magnus College on Friday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in GNAC play.

Goudreau recorded her 21st singles win, tying current record holder Emily Williamson '13, who tallied her 21st singles win last season.

Goudreau teamed up with Jessica Gautieri (North Attleboro, Mass.) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. The AMCATS also saw an 8-2 win by Nicola Zamira (Mashpee, Mass.) and Callie Mulcahy (Charlton, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles and an 8-1 win by Marrissa Leonard (Billerica, Mass.) and Katelyn Edelson (Berlin, Conn.) at No. 3 doubles.

Gautieri suffered an injury at No. 1 singles to and conceded the win to Zaida Velazco. Zamira made quick work at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Edelson downed Sogona Sacko 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Mulcahy and Leonard recorded wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, by scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0.

Anna Maria will be back in action tomorrow as they host Mount Ida College for the final GNAC match of 2014. Match time is slated for noon at the Paxton Sports Center.
