Women's Tennis Bested by Suffolk, 8-1

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 loss to Suffolk University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Paxton Sports Center.

The pair of Nicola Zamira (Mashpee, Mass.) and Callie Mulcahy (Charlton, Mass.) had the best finish for the AMCATS with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Mulcahy also made a run of it at No. 4 singles, as she came back from a 6-0 loss in the first set to win 6-2 in the second and force tiebreaker points.

The Rams finished doubles with a 2-1 lead following wins by Aidiana Sagyndykova and Adrianna Garrett at No. 1 and Isabel Rathlev and Lyndsay Reese at No. 3 by scores of 8-0 and 8-2, respectively.

Sagyndykova, Garrett, Rebecca Eshoo, Abby Triglio, Rathlev, and Jacqueline Nakamura all recorded wins in their respective singles pairings.

The win boosts the Rams to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in league action, while the loss drops the AMCATS to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in GNAC play.

The AMCAT tennis team will be back in action on Monday when they host the University of Saint Joseph at 3:00 p.m. in GNAC action.
