Sasso Named Anna Maria College Head Softball Coach

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College Athletic Department has named Lawrence Sasso the Head Softball Coach as announced by Athletic Director, Serge DeBari on Monday morning. Sasso joins the Anna Maria community following three years serving as the head junior varsity baseball coach at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, Mass.

Prior to his three years at Nipmuc he served as the head junior varsity baseball coach at Saint Peter Marian Junior-Senior High School in Worcester, Mass. for three years. Sasso currently serves as the head coach and team manager of the East Side Post 201 American Legion Baseball team and is the American Legion Baseball District 4 Commissioner for Massachusetts. He is also the head coach for the Massachusetts Team Orange Showcase Baseball League.

Sasso joins the Anna Maria College community with over thirty years of youth and community coaching along with demonstrated player and staff development.

"It is with great pride that I accept this coaching position at Anna Maria College...We will implement a TEAM first approach that highlights character, intelligence, and skill" said Coach Sasso.

"He is a hardworking coach with a great attitude looking for an opportunity to develop high character student-athletes on and off the field" said Athletic Director Serge DeBari, "I believe Sasso has a great deal of experience and a great passion for coaching to bring to the softball program. I look forward to working with him in developing and growing the Anna Maria College softball team."

Sasso is a United States Marine Corp Veteran (1986-1994). He served as a Sergeant and was on active duty for five months in 1991.

Sasso earned his Associate of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Quinsigamond Community College and his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Worcester State University. He also went on to earn his Master of Science Degree in Management concentrated in leadership from Worcester State University in 2013.
