Mike Rapoza Named GNAC Rookie of the Week for the Third Time
PAXTON, Mass.-- Freshman Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Rapoza's third time receiving Rookie of the Week honors.
The reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week shot 71.4% (15-21 FG) in a pair of losses last week, averaging 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in setbacks to conference powers JWU and Albertus Magnus. He had 19 points and nine boards against JWU on MLK Day before registering a 22-point, 13-rebound performance against Albertus on Saturday.
The rookie leads the AMCATS this season averaging 17.2 points per game and 13 rebounds per game. He notched a career high 24 points in the AMCATS first win of the season over Mount Ida on Dec. 1st. Rapoza has recorded a total of 12 double-doubles this season.
The AMCATS host the Saints of Emmanuel College on Wednesday, January 25 for a 6:00 p.m. GNAC contest.
