Rapoza Named GNAC Rookie of the Week for Fifth Time

PAXTON, Mass.-- Freshman Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Rapoza's fifth time receiving Rookie of the Week honors this season.

The rookie shot 73.9% (17-23 FG) from the floor to average 19.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. He had 19 points and 12 boards against Suffolk before registering 19 points and 11 caroms in a win over Rivier for his fifth Rookie of the Week honor.

Rapoza leads the AMCATS this season averaging 18 points per game and 12.9 rebounds per game. He notched a career high 24 points in the AMCATS first win of the season over Mount Ida on Dec. 1st. The win helped earn the AMCATS a spot in this season's GNAC tournament. Rapoza has recorded an impressive 19 double-doubles this season.

The AMCATS travel to Albertus Magnus on Tuesday, Feb. 21 for the GNAC quarterfinals contest starting 7:00 p.m.
