AMCATS Fall to Beacons in Men's Tennis

Paxton, Mass. – Freshman Dillion George (Holden, Mass.) took the number one flight to a tie-breaker for the Anna Maria College men's tennis team in a 9-0 loss to visiting UMass Boston this afternoon at Paxton Sports Center. The AMCATS fall to 0-7 overall, while the Beacons improve to 7-3 on the season.

 

George opened the match against David Hernandez with a 6-4 win in the first game however he dropped the second game 4-6 and the tiebreaker 10-5 at the number one flight. Calvin Weeks picked up one game at the #2 seed in 6-0, 6-1 loss to Alex Loyer. Senior Ben Chick-Reny and Corey Page were both shutout in the third and fifth position, 6-0.6-0.

 

Senior LeGrand Haughton won three games for the AMCATS in the fourth flight, falling 6-1,6-2, while Jose River was downed 6-0, 6-1 by Greg Fleming in the last singles match of the day.

 

Weeks and George fell at the number one doubles slot 8-2, as Chick-Reny and Cody Brigham suffered an 8-1 defeat at number two. The number three tandem of Haughton/Page were blanked 8-0 in the final doubles action.

 

The AMCATS return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Albertus Magnus at Paxton Sports Center, first serve is slated for 6:00pm
