Men's Tennis Blanked by Johnson & Wales

East Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men's tennis team blanked Anna Maria, 9-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Moses courts on afternoon

Johnson & Wales swept the three doubles matches and continued the sweep with six singles victories, five of them coming in straight sets.  Senior James Adriano (Pawcatuck, Conn.) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over AMC's Calvin Weeks (Glen Ellyn, IL) and teamed with sophomore Mars Wala (Woonsocket, R.I.) for a 9-8 win at first doubles over the AMCAT tandem of Weeks and James Milligan (Grafton, MA).  Wala also notched a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles over Ben Chick-Reny (Lewiston, ME) for the Wildcats. 

The trio of freshman Adam Beady (Weymouth, Mass.), Javier Guardia (Panama City, Panama) and Jason Chavenson (Upper Dublin, Pa.) each had two wins on the day for JWU.

With the win JWU improves to 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in league play while Anna Maria falls to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the GNAC.
