Men's Lacrosse Ride Strong Second Half Past Purchase

HARRISON, NY: The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team won 10-3 over Purchase College in a non-conference matchup.

TURNING POINT:

  • The first half was a bit of a defensive struggle as the teams combined for five goals in the first 30 minutes of play. The AMCATS took a 3-2 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • The AMCATS offense came alive in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 7-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Senior goalkeeper Griffin Moore (Worcester, MA) had 12 saves on 15 shots on goal. His 80% save percentage was his second-highest of the season, and highest of any game he played all 60 minutes. This was Moore's third consecutive win, bringing his record to 3-4 on the year.
  • The AMCATS had a balanced approach on offense with four players scoring two goals each (freshman attacker Nicolas Pasqualini (Mystic CT), senior attacker Quinn Hannagan (South Windsor, CT), senior midfielder Eric Glover (Baldwinville, MA), and senior attacker Nick Massaro (West Haven, CT).
  • Freshman midfielder Liam Bedenkop (Marson Mills, MA) and Sophomore attacker Ethan Quinn (Dudley, MA) each added a tally of their own.
  • Bedenkop's goal in the third period started the AMCATS offensive surge and was the first goal of his collegiate career.
  • Nine AMCATS recorded at least two shots each en route to a 41-29 edge in shots. Glover led all players with 10 shots, seven of which were on goal.
  • Conor Schwenker (Westhampton Beach, NY) found the back of the net twice, while Cristian Ishoo scored once for the Panthers.

The AMCATS will return to the field on Wednesday, March 30th when they will return to New York to travel to SUNY Maritime to faceoff with Mt. St. Vincent for a 7:30 pm start.
