BASICS

  • Date: February 22, 2020
  • Records: Becker College Hawks (7-15-3), Anna Maria College AMCATS (2-19-4)
  • Score: Becker College 1, Anna Maria College 1

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Anna Maria had their chances in the first period after they had five shots on Becker goalie, Madelyn Morgan (Riverside, CA) but were turned away each time. The Hawks also had their opportunities in the first period when they peppered AMCATS netminder, Gabrielle Ohanesian (Bozemen, MT) with 15 shots but she stonewalled the Hawks each time to keep the squad in the contest.
  • Second-period action saw more of the same in the first where no school could find the back of the net. But Anna Maria generated four powerplay opportunities and had nine shots between each powerplay and unfortunately could not capitalize on the extra skater advantages. Becker also had their share of powerplays in the period (four), but Ohanesian stopped the 11 Hawks shots and maintained the 0-0 tie headed into the third.
  • Not long into the third period (1:27), Cote corralled an Ashley Dickinson (Bowmanville, ON) pass and sent the puck past Morgan for the 1-0 AMCATS lead. As time wound down, the Hawks found the equalizer at 19:10 when Lee secured a pass from Cameron Payne (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and she snuck it by Ohanesian and the contest moved into overtime.
  • In overtime, the 'CATS had a powerplay chance at 4:17 but could not generate the game-winner as the schools skated to a 1-1 draw.
