Lapierre Makes History with GNAC All-Conference First Team Recognition

WINTHROP, Mass.—Sophomore Jacqueline Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference First Team, as announced by the league office on Monday.

With Monday's announcement, Lapierre becomes the first Anna Maria softball player to earn GNAC All-Conference honors. Anna Maria has been a member of the GNAC since the 2012 season.

Lapierre's honor also marks the first time since 2010 that an AMCAT softball player has earned All-Conference first team recognition. In 2010, Sarah Boyda '11 was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Player of the Year and was a TCCC First Team selection.

Lapierre was dominant for the AMCATS in her second season on the team. She led Anna Maria in hits (45), runs batted in (23), doubles (seven), stolen bases (nine) and runs scored (24). She finished the season with an impressive .459 batting average which ranked her fifth in the GNAC and 57th in all of Division III.

Anna Maria's sophomore outfielder opened the season with an 11-game hitting streak. She had her two best performances at the plate in a four-day stretch in mid-April, when she batted 4-for-4 with a homerun, five RBI, and two runs scored in a 12-9 loss to St. Joseph's (Maine). Four days later, she batted 6-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, four RBI, and four runs scored in a doubleheader against Lasell.

In two seasons with the AMCATS, Lapierre has played in 60 games with 68 hits, 28 runs score, 28 RBI, and 14 stolen bases. She also holds a career slugging percentage of .453 and an on-base percentage of .402.

Joining Lapierre on the GNAC All-Conference First Team is the league's Player and Pitcher of the Year, Patti Sciglimpaglia, of the University of St. Joseph (Conn.). Brenna DuPerry of Johnson & Wales was named the GNAC Rookie of the Year, while Jaclyn Davis of Suffolk was named the Coach of the Year.

Anna Maria's Elizabeth Haggerty (Charlton, Mass.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the second time in her career.
