Lancers Too Much For Softball

WORCESTER, MA - On Monday, April 8th the Anna Maria College softball team traveled down the hill to take on the Worcester State University Lancers for a non-conference doubleheader. the AMCATS lost both games 7-1 and 8-0.

Game 1: Anna Maria jumped out to a 1-0 lead in game 1 after Shae Savoie Walked, stole second, and came around to score on a Gabbie Vasquez single. This would turn out to be the only run the Amcats would muster up on the day as they suffer losses of 7-1 and 8-0. Worcester state would do their damage late in game 1 as Starter Mackenzie Evers kept their offense at bay through 3 innings. She scattered 13 hits and 7 runs over 7 innings, with Al 7 coming from the 4th to the 7th innings. Vasquez was 2-3 with an RBI in the loss.

Game 2: Worcester State would score once in the top of the 1st and never look back on their way to an 8-0 victory. Amcat Starter Lauryn Meade scattered 10 hits and 8 runs (4 earned) over 4.2 innings while striking out 2. Freshman Kiki Hicks retired the last WSU hitter. Offensively the Amcats could not get anything going as they were held without a hit until the bottom of the 5th when Madison Romano singled up the middle.
