Bison Take Game Two Against Softball

 FT. MYERS, FL: On Saturday March 3rd, the Anna Maria College Softball played a game against a non-conference opponents Bethany (W.V) at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic at the North Collier Sports Complex. 

THE BASICS: 

• Date: Saturday, March 2, 2023 
• Game 1: Bethany W.V 8, Anna Maria o 
• Records: Bethany W.V 2-0 | Anna Maria AMCATS 1-3 

HIGHLIGHTS: 

The AMCATS were off to a tough start, as the Bethany Bison came out strong with their bats and capitalized on the AMCATS errors. The Bison would score eight runs in the first inning of the game. The Bison lead off batter got a single to start the rally for the bison to eventually score eight runs. The first run of the game would come off a stolen base to home play. It would continue off a Haley Eyler double that would score Morgan Huey to make it 2-0 Bison. It would then be Mary Marshall to single, and score Brooke Markland Haley Eyler scored. It would now be 3-0 Bison, and the AMCATS would get their first out of the first inning, but the Bison would continue to push their offense as Elizabeth Shubert doubled. The first inning would continue as the AMCATS would make some errors that would lead the Bison to add to their lead as Mary Marshall scored on an error by 1st base and Alexis Holden scored on an error by the catcher. The AMCATS would get the final out of the inning, having to fight their way back with plenty of time left in the game leaving the first inning down by eight runs. The AMCATS offense would be silenced until the fourth inning where grad student Sam Dahill would break the no hitter for the Bison hitting a single. The AMCATS would not let the Bison get any more runs, and the Bison pitcher would silence the AMCATS, letting them only get one more hit for a total of two during the game. The second hit would come off the bat of freshman Madisyn Crossman in the fifth inning. The AMCATS would score no runs against the Bison and the Bison offense took total control getting the win against the AMCATS 8-0 for a final.

Anna Maria will continue their spring break trip with two more games at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, FL. The first pitch of the first game will be a rematch against the Bethany W.V at 9 AM. The second game will follow around 11 AM against the Clark University Cougars.
