Softball Announces Their Captains For The 2024 Season

Paxton, MA- Today, head softball coach Larry Sasso announced this Spring's team captains.

The AMCAT Softball team will be led by graduate students,Sabrina (Sab) Liston (Rehoboth, MA, Moses Brown HS), and Shay Savoie, Onoway, Canada, (University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada).

"I am extremely proud and honored to announce these two leaders as our captains for this season! Sab and Shay have worked really hard and love the game of softball and have the desire to compete at the highest level. "They are talented, spirited, and both have demonstrated that they can overcome many obstacles to get back in the game, said Coach Sasso.""They both work extremely hard, and at the same time are always there for their teammates, Sasso said."  "With their passion and drive, as well as their ability to model the way no matter what, I know this will be a special year!" " When Sab and Shay are on the field they make everyone around them better!"

Sabrina Liston (Sab) is one of our most talented pitchers; she has also been one of the top players in the conference in both pitching and hitting statistics the last couple seasons! Sab has come back looking better than ever with her pitching and hitting. She has been a tremendous force for us in the past, and we are expecting another great season from her this year. Sab is focused and is committed to leading this team to new heights, we are so glad she is back!

Shay Savoie is one of the most exciting softball players that we have seen in many years on our roster! She has the ability to change a game with one swing, she can steal bases, and has the ability to score every time she gets on base. Shay will cover lots of ground in center field, along with our other outfielders, theywill provide our pitching staff with the best outfield this program has seen in the last six years. Shay is back, everyone is excited, we can't wait to see her on the field!

The Anna Maria College Softball team will be opening their season on March 1, 2024, playing Alverno College in Ft. Myers, Florida. The AMCATS will play their home opener on Saturday, March 16th against Vermont State Johnson.
