DANBURY, Mass.—Anna Maria College softball freshman outfielder Jacqueline Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) has been tabbed the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Rookie of the Week, as announced by the ECAC office on Tuesday night.

She becomes the first AMCAT softball player to earn ECAC weekly honors in over four years.

Lapierre led the team at the plate on the week, totaling seven hits, including two doubles, in 20 at-bats for a .350 batting average. The freshman outfielder batted-in two runs, scored four, and stole three bases on the week for Anna Maria. At the plate, she totaled a .409 on-base percentage and slugged a .450. She also posted a .947 fielding percentage, making just one error in 19 attempts.

She had her best performance at the plate in the AMCATS' 9-0 win against Regis, where she tallied a single and a double, drove in two runs, and scored one herself in four-at bats.

Earlier this week, Lapierre was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week.

Joining Lapierre in this week's ECAC New England awards are Kim Jordan of Saint Joseph's (Maine), who was named the Player of the Week, and Clare Doolin of WPI, who was tabbed the pitcher of the week.

The AMCATS finished their trip to South Carolina with a 2-6 record. The team is scheduled to be idle until Saturday, March 21st, when they travel to the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) for a GNAC doubleheader slated to begin at 1:30 p.m.
