Grey, Sinto, Marziale Earn Worcester All-Star Honors

2015 WORCESTER ALL-STAR TEAM

WORCESTER, Mass.—Three members of the Anna Maria College football team were named to the 25th Annual Steve "Merc" Morris All-Star Team, awarded by the Worcester Area Football Association. Members of the all-star team are voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the eight member football colleges in Worcester County.

Now celebrating its silver anniversary, the Worcester Area Football Association All-Star Team is named in memory of Steve "Merc" Morris, the longtime Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations and Assumption Hall of Famer. Morris was a 1972 graduate of Assumption and was a member of the athletics staff for 39 years before he passed away in January of 2011.

In addition to being the founder of the Worcester Area Association All-Star Program, Morris was a tireless supporter of collegiate athletics and had a key role in the lives of thousands of student-athletes.

Anna Maria student-athletes earning recognition are senior offensive lineman Kevin Grey (Middleboro, Mass.), senior linebacker Mike Sinto (Long Beach, N.Y.) and junior punter Stefano Marziale (Cranston, R.I.).

A three-time All-Worcester honoree after second team honors in 2013 and 2014, Grey has earned first team recognition this season. A three-year team captain, Grey provided senior leadership to a young offensive line. As a unit, the AMCAT offensive line blocked for 1,140 team rushing yards and aided the offense to six rushing touchdowns in 2015.

Sinto earned second-team recognition at linebacker for the second straight season. He paced the AMCAT defense with 85 tackles in his final season. He tallied a team-leading 14 tackles-for-loss on the season, including a 17-yard sack against Mount Ida. He had the best defensive performance of his career in Anna Maria's 24-20 win against Gallaudet in week nine when he totaled a game-high 15 tackles, including two in Gallaudet's final offensive drive.

Marziale is a first-year Worcester All-Star selection. In 2015, he led the league in total punting yards (2,117) and average yards per punt (37.1). He booted a season-long punt of 65 yards against Husson this season and also averaged a season-best 50.7 yards per punt in the same game. He had five punts land inside the 20 in 2015, including one in each of the last two games against Gallaudet and Becker.

The major award winners included junior wide receiver Brendan Flaherty (Beverly, Mass.) of Holy Cross as the Offensive Player of the Year while junior defensive back Jarrod Casey (Milford, Mass.) of Assumption was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year.

Sophomore placekicker Cole Tracy (Camarillo, Calif.) of Assumption earned Special Teams Player of the Year and freshman teammate Deonte Harris (Baltimore, Md.) was named Freshman of the Year. Bob Chesney of Assumption and Mike Litchen of Becker shared Coach of the Year honors.
