PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College football team welcomed Keystone College on Saturday afternoon for Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action at Caparso Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior quarterback Alex Cohen (Plymouth, MA) exceeded 300 yards for the second time this season, throwing for 301 yards and three touchdowns on 21-38 passing. Cohen also contributed on the ground with 12 rushes for 67 yards and two more touchdowns. Cohen has been responsible for 25 of the AMCATS 31 touchdowns this season.
  • Senior wide receiver Hayden Braga (Foster, RI) returned from an injury in the season opener against UMass-Dartmouth and scored two touchdowns on four catches for 75 yards. Sophomore wide receiver Devin Tolbert (Salem, MA) had a game-high seven catches and 121 yards through the air.
  • The AMCAT defense was led by freshman linebacker Kenny McMillian (Meriden, CT) with a game-high 10 tackles and a fumble recovery that he returned 13 yards, setting the AMCATS up at the Keystone nine-yard line. The drive resulted in their second touchdown of the game and cut the Giants' lead to 20-13 at the time.
  • The AMCATS gave their fans hope as they twice cut the Giants' lead down to only two points, the first on a 31-yard connection between Cohen and Braga with 9:28 to play that made the score 34-32, and then again with only 58 seconds on the clock when Cohen found Deandre Wallace (Waterbury, CT) in the endzone from 11-yards out. An unsuccessful onside kick however left the giants only needing to take a knee twice to close out the game.
