2018 Baseball Schedule Released

PAXTON, Mass – Featuring matchups against newly formed Pine Manor College, new division III opponent Dean College, the team's annual trip to the Russmatt Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla. And their usual GNAC schedule, the AMCATS baseball schedule was released in full earlier this month.

Head Coach Dan Briand enters his first season at the helm for AMC with 10 years of coaching experience under his belt and will lead the AMCATS in their 2018 campaign that will be headlined by their 14 game GNAC schedule.

"I think it is very important to play a challenging schedule against quality opponents that play in great conferences." Briand said, "This schedule has a good mix down south of in region and out of region teams. We get to finish our trip against last year's regular season NEWMAC champion WPI, and Wentworth who plays in the CCC. These games should be a great barometer for where our team is at. Then once we get back up north, in addition to a challenging conference slate we also play multiple NEWMAC, Little East, CCC and MASCAC teams to get us prepared for conference tournament baseball."

The AMCATS will open their schedule with a home contest against a program Coach Briand knows well, Fitchburg State, which he was an assistant for over the last two years. The team will then spend the first week of March in Winter Haven Florida competing in the Russmatt invitational against Vermont's Lyndon State and Minnesota's Martin Luther as well as SUNY Poly.

AMC will open their Great Northeast Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday, April 7th against Johnson & Wales at home. Along with JWU, the conference schedule includes the usual suspects, Norwich, Saint Joseph's (Maine), Suffolk, Albertus Magnus, Lasell, and Rivier, who that AMCATS will close out the regular season with on the road on Saturday, April 28th.

There is a lot of excitement around this year's team. With a number of new faces, including nearly 20 freshman and a handful of transfers, as well as a few returners from the 2017 squad, the new look AMCATS are looking forward to a successful campaign in conference and otherwise.
