Ten Football Student-Athletes Named to ECFC All-Academic Team
PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College football team placed ten student-athletes on the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) 2014 All-Academic Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon. Sixty student-athletes across 10 teams earned recognition.
To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing, have participated a minimum two years with the team and achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.
Senior Michael Petrino (Staten Island, N.Y.) tops the list for Anna Maria. Juniors Ryan Dirienzo (Granby, Conn.), David Morrow (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Juan Palacio (Lowell, Mass.) were named to the team for the second-straight season, while classmates Ronald Kikonyogo (Worcester, Mass.), Micah Madir (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Kolin Matthews (Seymour, Conn.) were first-time selections.
Sophomores Andrew Bailey (Scotia, N.Y.), Alex Geiger (East Providence, R.I.) and Michael Sinto (Long Island City, N.Y.) earned the honor in their first season of eligibility.
Castleton, Husson and Norwich all led the pack with 13 selections each. Anna Maria's 10 was the next-highest, followed by SUNY Maritime and Gallaudet with four qualifiers each.
