Football's Weaver Named Corvais ECAC Northeast Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn.—Freshman wide receiver Trai Weaver (Waterbury, Conn.) of the Anna Maria College football team was tabbed as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northeast Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday evening.  

It marks the first time this season that a member of the AMCAT football squad has garnered regional weekly honors. Earlier this week, Weaver was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Rookie of the Week.

Weaver had the best offensive day of his short career on Saturday, totaling 117 reception yards and catching his first collegiate touchdown reception on a 46-yard pass in the fourth quarter. He totaled his 117 yards on five catches to average 23.4 yards per reception. Prior to Saturday's game he was averaging 54 yards per game, thereby doubling his offensive output this week. 

On the season, Weaver has totaled 13 receptions for 225 yards. He averages 75 yards per game and 17.3 yards per reception.

The AMCATS will open ECFC play on Saturday, October 4, as they host last year's league champion, Gallaudet, at 1:00 p.m. at AMCAT Field.
