Bio

Dave McNamara enters his ninth season at the helm of the AMCAT baseball team in 2015. In his first eight seasons, McNamara has become the all-time winningest coach in AMCAT baseball history. 

Last season, McNamara coached Joshua Creamer to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference third team slot. The 2014 AMCATS also had two  Worcester Area Baseball All-Star selections. 

In 2013, Coach McNamara earned his 100th career win, making him AMC's all time winningest baseball coach.  Other team accolades in 2013 included four members of the GNAC All-Conference team, three members of the Worcester Area All-Stars and an ECAC nod.

Coach “Mac” was voted the GNAC Coach of the Year after leading the AMCATS to a 24-18 record in 2012. The AMCATS reached the GNAC Final Four and the ECAC New England Championship game. It was the third consecutive post-season appearance for the AMCATS and their third straight 20 win season (24 – 2012, 26 – 2011, 21 – 2010).

In 2012, Anna Maria played an inaugural game against cross–town, Division I opponent College of the Holy Cross.  The AMCATS were downed by the Crusaders 7-0 but held them scoreless in six innings.

Coach McNamara earned Worcester Area Coach of the Year recognition after leading the AMCATS to a program record 26 wins in 2011 and first ever ECAC Division III New England Baseball Title. This was the first ECAC title for not only the program, but the college as a whole. The team also broke the school record for wins in 2010 with 21.McNamara began coaching at AMC in 2007 after inheriting a 0-28 team. 

McNamara is a 2004 graduate of Clark University, where he was an Academic-All American and captain of the baseball and basketball teams. A Worcester native, McNamara also graduated from Worcester Academy (2000) and Holy Name High School (1999).

McNamara was a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection in baseball as a senior while graduating with the single-season RBI record at Clark University. In ’04, he finished second in the NEWMAC Conference in hitting (.387), while also ranking among league leaders in hits (43), runs (27), RBI (31), 2B’s (10), SB’s (12), and OBP (.457), finishing his career with over 100 hits.

In basketball, McNamara led Clark University to back-to-back Elite Eight NCAA Tournament appearances in 2001 and 2002. McNamara is second on Clark’s All-Time scoring list with 1,827 career points. An Academic All-American, he earned multiple awards including All-Regional honors and New England & NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. Dave is one of only two players in NEWMAC League history to be named All-Conference First Team all four years in basketball, and as a junior, he finished third in the country in 3-point shooting at 47.4%(91-192).

Prior to coaching at AMC, McNamara was an assistant coach for the Clark University basketball team and for the Doherty High School baseball team.

Dave currently resides in Holden, Mass. with his wife, Julia.
