Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Emmanuel

BOSTON, MA- On Saturday, March 29th the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team traveled to Boston, MA to take on the Saints of Emmanuel College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 23-4.

The Saints would open the game with four early goals in the first quarter. It would be the AMCATS to get their first goal of the game with about 7 minutes left to play in the first quarter off the stick of Riley Michaud. The Saints would answer to the AMCATS goal to increase their lead 5 to 1 and put themselves ahead of the AMCATS again by 4 goals. The AMCATS would be quick to answer in the first quarter not giving up to the Saints scoring two more goals in the first quarter off the stick of Riley Michaud for her second goal of the game and Ivy Ballou for her first goal of the game. That would put the AMCATS only trailing to the Saints by 2 goals with the score of 5 to 3. The Saints would strike back quickly off the Ballou goal before the first quarter would end scoring their 6th goal of the game and pulling ahead of the AMCATS by three goals heading into the second quarter. 

The AMCATS would look to come out strong against the Saints as they are trailing by three goals heading into the second quarter. It would not go in the AMACTS favor as the Saints would come out in the 2nd and score 5 unanswered goals against the AMCATS taking the lead 11 to 3. It wouldn't be until late in the second quarter where the AMCATS would get their fourth and final goal of the game off the stick of Riley Michaud for her third goal of the game. The Saints would respond quickly to the AMCATS in the 2nd quarter scoring two more goals to bring increase their lead over the AMCATS 13 to 4 heading into half time. The Saints would come out in the third and fourth quarter and completely dominate and control the game against the AMCATS. As the Saints would pull away from the AMCATS for the rest of the game putting up 10 unanswered goals and keeping the AMCATS off the board for the remainder of the game. The AMCATS would be shut down by the Saints after the AMCATS got their fourth goal in the second quarter. The AMCATS would fall to the Saints 23 to 4. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE 

  • Riley Michaud would control the offense for the AMCATS against the Saints scoring three goals, adding to her total of 24 goals and 7 assists for a total of 31 points in 9 games played so far this season. 
  • Christine Ijawet would lead the AMCATS in draw control wins with 5 against the Saints.
  • Grace Holden would record 19 saves in the game against the Saints. 

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday April 2nd, 2025, where they will travel to Framingham State to take on the Rams of Framingham State for a non-conference match up. Opening draw is set for 4:30pm.
