AMCATS Net Win Over Becker
Paxton, Mass. – In a terrific battle on the court, Anna Maria College men's tennis team defeated rival Becker College 5-4 in Sunday morning at Paxton Sports Center. AMC picked up their second win of the year and now sit at 2-7 while Becker drops to 3-7 with the loss.
AMC took a 2-1 lead after opening doubles action. The flight one tandem of David Bourget (Winter Park, FLA)/Adam Williamson (Spencer, Mass.) defeated BC's matchup of Tim Howard (Paxton, Mass.)/Brandon Parkhouse (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) 8-1. Anna Maria also scored victory in the third match, the combo of Mike Dandurand (Warwick, RI)/Ben Chick-Reny (Lewiston, ME) outlasted Jason Alera (Shrewsbury, Mass.)/David Graham (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) 8-6.
In singles action number one David Bourget and number two Adam Williamson scored straight set victories. In the days best match-up Hawks' Parkhouse came away with a hard fought three set victory over senior Mike Dandurand 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Becker scored the next two flights at four and five, Brian Piquette defeated Haakim Ferguson (Boston, Mass.) 6-2,6-2 and David Graham powered past Kevin Card (Deer Park, NY) 6-2, 6-4.
AMC junior Ben Chick-Reny sealed the victory with a straight set victory 6-4, 6-2 over Jason Alera in the sixth position.
Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Curry for a 3:00 pm match-up.
