Men's Tennis Weekend Recap

The men's tennis squad opened the 2012 campaign with a pair setback against Bridgewater State and Wentworth in non-conference contests over the weekend at the Paxton Sports Center.

Saturday, March 17 vs. Bridgewater State, L 9-0

Junior David Bourget (Winter Park, FL) in the number one slot dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match to Wesley Esthimer and paired with Adam Williamson (Spencer, Mass.) went down 8-5 in doubles play. Williamson played a hard fought singles match taking it to a tie breaker 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) before suffering the loss to Sean Bleau of Bridgewater State.

Haakim Ferguson lost at the number #2 slot 6-0, 6-1 while teammates Mike Dandurand (Warwick, RI), Kevin Card and Ben Chick-Remy also went down in their single flights.

Sunday, March 18 vs. Wentworth, L 9-0

Anna Maria opened with losses in the three doubles matches and couldn't recover on the day. At the number one slot the duo of Bourget/Williamson was bested 8-5 while Ferguson/Dandurand battled to an 8-7 loss at number two and Chick-Reny/Card dropped an 8-1 decision at the third slot.

The AMCATS return to action on Saturday when they host Johnson & Wales University in a GNAC match-up starting at 9:30 AM.
