Men's Tennis Falls to Emerson

WATERTOWN, Mass. – With a perfect sweep of singles and a only one close loss in doubles the Emerson Men's Tennis team came to show their colors on a cold and windy day Thursday afternoon as they topped GNAC foes, the Anna Maria AMCATS 8-1 for their first win of the season. The W pushes EC to 1-3 on the year and 1-1 in conference play while Anna Maria 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the GNAC.

First up the Lions came out ready to battle the elements and the AMCATS as Mitchell Lance and Brent Walkoff threw down in the number one spot over Kevin Card and Haakim Ferguson who were only able to muster a set against the feisty Lions who won 8-1.

Maxwell Abbushi and Nate Fuller clinched doubles for EC with a gritty 8-6 win over Ben Chick-Reny and Mike Dandurand who hung around to make a match of it, but the Lions were tireless in their rallies taking an 8-6 win. In the only point the AMCATS could muster on the day, Emerson's Kevin Blisniuk and Roland Lewan matched up with ANM's David Bourget and Adam Williamson who had to take it to the limit in a 9-7 win.

On to singles on the day where the Lions thrived as Kevin Blisniuk and Nate Fuller absolutely dominated in the first and fourth spots taking respective 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 wins over their AMCAT foes while Mitchell Lance clinched it with a straight sets win himself as he put away ANM's Adam Williamson 6-2, 6-2.

With the win in hand, the Lions weren't about to let up on the AMCATS as Roland Lewan finished off Mike Dandurand with a 6-4, 7-5 while Brent Walkoff and Maxwell Abbushi both polished off wins in super tiebreakers to keep the Lions flawless in singles on the day.
