Softball Tripped Up by Farmingdale State

Clermont, Fla – The Anna Maria College softball team fell to non- conference opponent Farmingdale State College 8-0 in five innings on Monday evening at Hancock Field in Clermont, Florida.

The AMCATS now stand at 0-4 on the season.

The Rams opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning. Playing small ball Farmingdale received singles from their first three batters to load the bases.  Sophomore Joanne Carillo delivered a RBI sacrifice fly to open the scoring and a triple down the right field line from Hillary Genova plated the final run of the inning.

Through the first three innings the AMCAT could only muster an Ashley George (Leicester, Mass.) walk to disrupt the Rams pitcher. In the fourth inning the AMC's Sam Miller (Dudley, Mass.) broke-up the no-hitter with a single to left field.

Anna Maria's best scoring chance came in the top of the fifth inning when Lindsay Bond (Webster, Mass.) doubled with two outs.  Freshman Destinee Lucier (Worcester, Mass.) grounded out to first base to end the inning.

Farmingdale would double their run total with 4 more runs in the bottom of the fifth for the 8-0 final.

Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday when they will face Coast Guard at 9:00 a.m. and St. Scholastica at 11:00 a.m. in spring break action at Hancock Field.
