Cadets March Past AMCATS in Men’s Tennis

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's tennis team was downed, 8-1 by visiting Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday night at Paxton Sports Center. The AMCATS fall to 1-8 (0-1 GNAC), while the Cadets improve to 7-1 (1-1 GNAC).

Sophomore Dillon George (Holden, Mass.) earned the only point of the night for the AMCATS in singles play. The number one singles player defeated Ryan Grindle, 6-1, 6-3. Grindle returned the favor and teamed with Christian Hoskey to post an 8-4 win over George and Calvin Weeks (Glen Ellyn, IL) at the No. 1 doubles flight. Hoskey was a perfect 2-0 for NU, downing Weeks in singles action 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 slot.

NU swept the doubles action, Joe Dvorak and Ian Hyte cruised to an 8-1 win over George Kiritsy (Holden, Mass.)/Tyler Crabb (Wareham, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles while Jay Carter and Patrick Ogden shutout the AMCATS tandem of Eric Boll (Millbury, Mass.) and Tim Patenaude (Monson, Mass.), 8-0.

At the No. 3 singles position Hyte defeated Patenaude, 6-2, 6-0, while Dvorak knocked off Kiritsy 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. NU finished the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Anna Maria returns to GNAC play on Monday evening when they host Johnson & Wales at 7:30 pm.
