Men's Lacrosse Falls 18-2 at Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College men's lacrosse team posted an 18-2 victory over visiting Anna Maria College Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Roberto Clemente Field. With the win, the Saints improve to 7-7 overall and 6-0 in GNAC play while the loss drops the AMCATS to 1-12 and 0-5 in the GNAC.

AMCAT LEADERS
Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) and Zachary Sylvia (Tiverton, R.I.) each tallied a goal in the loss while Eddie Jankowski (Billerica, Mass.) and Nicholas Cesarski (New Fairfield, Conn.) collected seven ground balls a piece.
 

EMMANUEL LEADERS

13 different players registered points for the Saints in the win including a game high of five from freshman attack Max Bolduc (Lewiston, Maine) who scored four goals to go along with one assist. Senior Chris Curtis (Ashland, Mass.) posted four points on three goals and one assist. Freshman Will Petraglia (Wexford, Pa.) registered a hat trick in the win while junior Donnie Litzelman (Stratham, N.H.) and freshman Steve Gervasio (Johnston, R.I.) each recorded two goals and one assist. Junior Tony Cibelli (Westboro, Mass.), senior C.J. Galdorisi (Northport, N.Y.), freshman Matt Katon (East Falmouth, Mass.) and freshman Cullen Sweeney (Scituate, Mass.) rounded out the Emmanuel goal scorers in the win while senior Nick DelMonaco (Billerica, Mass.), junior Brendan Gallagher (Solon, Ohio), freshman Sam Ward (Hampstead, N.H.) and junior Tommy Dion (Wrentham, Mass.) added assists.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

Emmanuel opened up a quick 3-0 lead just 2:41 into the contest and never looked back. Anna Maria senior Rezendes put the AMCATS on the board with his 16th marker of the year to cut the lead to 3-1 with 5:54 to play in the first quarter but following the score, the Saints reeled off 15 straight goals to dominate the action.
The AMCATS rounded out the scoring with a man-up goal by Sylvia to account for the 18-2 final.
 

FACE-OFFS

For the AMCATS, Sylvia and sophomore Malik Griffith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both won four face offs, taking 12 each. Michael Sousa (Cranston, R.I.) went 3-for-3 in face-offs for the Saints while teammate Sean Reilly (Deer Park, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 and Tony Marcella (North Bridgton, Me.) went 12-for-18.
 

GOALTENDERS

Eddie Jankowski made the spot start in net for the AMCATS and held his own despite the score. Jankowski made 17 saves including several close range stops to keep the score closer early in the action. AMC was without starting goalie Paul Schwarz (Staten Island, N.Y.) who did not travel with the team.
 

Emmanuel sophomore goalie Austin Rosenberg (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) played the first half in net to earn the win and improve to 6-2 on the year. Freshman Cole Scadden (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Andrew Blood (Wrentham, Mass.) split the second half with Scadden making two stops during his time in the net.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Saints return to action on Saturday, April 23 when they head to Bowdoin College for a 1:00 PM non-conference tilt against the Polar Bears while Anna Maria hosts Lasell College at 1:00 PM the same day in another GNAC contest.
