Rezendes Nets Four as Wildcats Double Up Anna Maria, 12-6

PAXTON, Mass.—Senior Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) tallied four second-half goals in the Anna Maria College lacrosse team's closest conference finish of 2016, a 12-6 loss to Johnson & Wales on Wednesday afternoon.

The win boosts JWU to 9-8 overall and 5-3 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action, while Anna Maria falls to 1-14 overall and 0-7 in league play.

AMCAT LEADERS

Rezendes' four goals were the most scored by any player in the game. Joining him in the scoring column was Timothy Austin (Babylon, N.Y.) and Malik Griffith (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who both scored for the first time this season.

Freshman Kai Nero-Clark (Half Hollows, N.Y.) finished with a team-high five ground balls.

JOHNSON & WALES LEADERS

Erik Lindaas scored three goals to lead the Sam Sears finished with two goals and three assists. Max Stone scored twice, followed by Eric Russo added a goal and two assists.

Hunter Guzzo tallied a team-leading five ground balls, while Stephen Gregg won a game-high five face-offs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Wildcats led by two after the first quarter and held an 8-0 halftime lead. In the second half, the Wildcats saw goals by Lindaas and Jacob Demey at the 10:51 and 6:57 marks of the third quarter for a 10-0 lead.

Rezendes put his first tally on the board with 2:33 left in the third quarter.

The Wildcats scored two quick goals at 13:54 and 13:02 of the fourth frame before Anna Maria scored five-straight.

Anna Maria plays their final home game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in a GNAC tilt at Mount Ida College.
