Bio

Dr. Lawrence Sasso has been the Anna Maria head softball coach since the summer of 2017.

In the 2022 season, the AMCATS went 13-25 and 4-12 in GNAC action. Senior first baseman Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) was recognized with the Anna Maria Student Athlete Advisory Committee Award, while senior Samantha Dahill (Littleton, MA) was recognized as the Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year. Eden Forget earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week honors for the week ending March 20, 2022, the first AMCAT to be so recorgnized since 2016.

In 2019, the AMCATS jumped out to a 3-3 record, one of the best starts in program history. First-year shortstop Eden Forget was voted All-GNAC Third Team while the team was recognized with the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award. 

Sasso joined the Anna Maria College community with over thirty years of youth and community coaching experience, along with demonstrated player and staff development. He previously was the commander, team manager, and head coach of the East Side Post  201 American Legion Baseball Team.

Sasso is a United States Marine Corps Veteran (1986-1994) and served as a Sergeant and was on active duty for five months in 1991. 

Sasso earned his Associate of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Quinsigamond Community College and his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Worcester State University. He also went on to earn his Master of Science Degree in Management concentrated in leadership from Worcester State University in 2013. Sasso recently earned his Doctorate in business administration with a specialization in organizational leadership from Northcentral University.
