Wildcats Too Much For Softball

LONGMEADOW, MA- On Friday March 28th, 2025, the Anna Maria College softball team traveled to Longmeadow, MA to take on the Wildcats of Bay Path for a non-conference doubleheader. The AMCATS lost both games 9-1.

Game 1: The Wildcats of Bay Path would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against the AMCATS. The AMCATS would collect some hits against the Wildcats but would continue to be kept off the scoreboard as the AMCATS struggled to score runs. It would be the Wildcats to collect another run in the third inning to add to their lead against the AMCATS 4 to 0. It would be the AMCATS to get their first run of the game against the Wildcats in the third inning. It would be Gabby Vasquez who would have a sacrifice fly into center field to score Emelia Carvalho for their first run of the game, although the AMCATS would collect some more hits against the Wildcats, this would turn out to be the only run the AMCATS would muster up in the game. Bay Path would continue to pile on the runs against the AMCATS scoring four more in the fourth and one more in the sixth inning. The Wildcats would take game one over the AMCATS 9 to 1. The AMCATS would collect six hits in the first game against the Wildcats, each hit coming from a different AMCAT. Gabby Vasquez would get the lone RBI for the AMCATS in game one against the Wildcats. Emelia Carvalho would collect the only run in game one against the Wildcats.

Game 2: The AMCATS would take the lead in the top of the second inning against the Wildcats 1 to 0. The AMCATS run would come off a double from Gabby Vasquez who would score off a single from Paige Stewart. That would give the AMCATS the lead and only run so far in the game over the Wildcats. That would come to be the only run the AMCATS would score against the Wildcats in game two. The Wildcats would come back against the AMCATS in the bottom of the second inning, as they would go on to quickly respond to the AMCATS taking the lead by scoring 2 runs. The Wildcats not only kept the AMCATS off the board after the second inning but limited their offensive momentum as the AMCATS would struggle to find a hit after the second inning. The Wildcats would go on to dominate the AMCATS at the plate scoring one run in the third, four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning, to end the game over the AMCATS beating them 9 to 1 in game two.
