AMCATS TAB TWO NEW COACHES

PAXTON, Mass. (03.22.12) – Anna Maria College's Athletic Director Stanley Vieira has announced the hiring of Michael Schroeder as the new Head Coach of Women's Soccer and  John Nicol the new Head Coach for both the Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams.

Coach Schroeder will begin his first season as head coach of the Anna Maria women's soccer team in 2012.  He brings a wealth of soccer experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to the AMCATS women's soccer team.

Coach Schroeder joins Anna Maria after spending three seasons as an assistant women's soccer coach at Becker College. Prior to Becker College, Coach Schroeder served as the head coach of middle level boys' soccer at Moultonborough Academy and as a head coach with Warren Youth Soccer Association.

Coach Schroeder is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and holds a National Diploma. He is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. 

Coach Nicol will also be at the helm of the Cross Country Teams starting this fall. . He comes here after graduating from the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Sport Leadership where he received a master's degree in Sport Leadership.

While at VCU he served as a graduate assistant coach for the cross country and track team and prior to VCU, Nicol spent two years as a volunteer assistant coach for the Monson High School boys track team. While earning his undergraduate degree in sport management at Western New England he competed for four years on their cross country team. He was a three time TCCC all-conference academic team member, a captain his senior year, and the first in the program to run over 10,000 miles.
