Week 4 Esports Update

Week 4 Esports Update

As AMCAT Esports enters into the fourth week of competition, we take a look back on the past two weeks of unrelenting success. Week two saw our first matches in the NACE (National Association of Collegiate Esports) and the NECC (National Esports Collegiate Conference), which led to a 9-win streak for the AMCATS. While the win streak was briefly interrupted by Greenville University COD on February 10, the AMCATS were quickly back on top with Overwatch continuing to go undefeated and Rainbow 6 not dropping a map.

Over this 19-game period, the program won 16 matches and amassed wins over Division 1 schools like Ball State, University of Albany, and Long Island University, along with wins over more frequent opponents: Johnson and Wales, Nichols, and Alfred State.

Players of the Week

We saw stand out performances from Sophomore Rainbow 6 Fragger Casey Atwood and Freshman Overwatch Tank Dylan Mclaughlin.

Casey led the Rainbow 6 team in eliminations and had 7 triples.

Dylan led the team in mitigated damage across these past two weeks and had a massive 5-man Reinhardt Earth-Shatter in the match against the Eastern Eagles.

Match of the week: Overwatch vs Eastern - Feb 16

This match saw the fastest map win in NECC history on Havana, the third map of the series, as the AMCATS captured the objective in an astounding 10 seconds after an impenetrable defense in the first half. Additionally, the first map, Ilios, was a "flawless" AMCAT victory as they won the game without allowing the opponents a single elimination.

This match was live streamed and commentated by the NECC. The recording is available here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1740265400?filter=archives&sort=time
