Cross Country Races at Worcester City Invitational
PAXTON, Mass.—The men's and women's cross country teams competed on home soil at the annual Worcester City Invitational on Saturday morning at Moore State Park. Junior Maureen Moore (Newbury, Mass.) led the women with a time of 23:04 in the five kilometer race, whileCasey Quirk paced the men with a time of 34:52 in eight kilometers.
WOMEN'S RACE
The Anna Maria squad finished in sixth place with an average time of 27:13.40. Sophomore Shannon Latour (Millbury, Mass.) finished in 26:32, followed by sophomore Tori Fabino (Billerica, Mass.) at 26:49. Also finishing for the AMCATS were Hannah Pritchett (Methuen, Mass.) in 29:06 and Ryanne Burke (Auburn, Mass.) in 30:36.
WPI earned the team win, as they has six of the top seven finishers. Worcester State finished in second, followed by Clark University in third.
MEN'S RACE
The AMCAT men's squad also took a sixth place finish with an average pace of 36:59.80. Following Quirk, sophomore Daniel Jodrey (Paxton, Mass.) was the second Anna Maria runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 35:11.
Freshman Teddy Duchesne (West Barnstable, Mass.) recorded a time of 36:51, followed by freshmen Hunter Hoag (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Jerome Ball (Holden, Mass.) with times of 37:44 and 40:21.
WPI finished with the top seven finishers to take the first-place team victory. Clark University finished in second, followed by Fitchburg State in third.
WHAT'S NEXT
The AMCATS will take next weekend off, but will travel to Westfield State on Saturday, October 10th for the James Earley Invitational. The men's race kicks off at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's race at noon.
