Cross Country Runs at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass.—The Anna Maria College cross country teams competed at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning. The men's team completed the 8-kilometer race at an average pace of 40:56, while the women's team averaged a time of 27:49 in the 5-kilometer race. 

MEN'S RACE

Casey Quirk took the top slot for the AMCAT men, averaging a 6.43 mile for a total time of 33:38.31. Daniel Jodrey (Paxton, Mass.) was four runners behind Quirk and just seconds slower, clocking in at 33:57.68.

Also finishing for the men were Teddy Duchesene (West Barnstable, Mass.) with a time of 36:58.38, Alex Rezendes (Nantucket, Mass.) with a time of 50 minutes even, and Bob Schwartz, who clocked in at 50:07.00.

Anna Maria topped Mount Ida in the race, which was won by Brandeis. The top runner to cross the line was Ignatio Hernando from Division II Southern New Hampshire University, who averaged 5:02.8 per mile for an overall time of 25:13.61.

WOMEN'S RACE

Junior Maureen Moore (Newbury, Mass.) paced the AMCATS in the women's race, averaging a 7:04 pace to complete the 5k in a time of 21:58.48. She was the 192nd runner to cross the line out of over 300 runners. Shannon Latour (Millbury, Mass.) was the next Anna Maria across the finish line with a time of 25:33.83.

Victoria Fabino (Billerica, Mass.) finished in 27:07.31, while Hannah Pritchett (Methuen, Mass.) and Ryanne Burke (Auburn, Mass.) completed the race in times of 29:01.79 and 35:23.66, respectively.

The Anna Maria squad topped Eastern Nazarene and Mount Ida in the race. Brandeis took the top slot, while the overall winner was Allison Decker from East Stroudsburg, who finished the race in 17:40.82, besting the second-place finisher by nearly 19 seconds.

WHAT'S NEXT

The AMCATS stay close to home this weekend as they run in the annual Worcester City Invitational at Moore State Park in Paxton on Saturday. The women's race starts at 10:00 a.m. with the men's race to follow.
