Softball Falls to Lycoming, 8-2, in South Carolina

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—The Anna Maria College softball team suffered an 8-2 loss to Lycoming College in day three of action at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The loss drops the AMCATS to 1-4 on the season.

SCORING

The AMCATS opened the game strong, scoring two runs on a double by Taylor Gould (Storrs, Conn.) in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead.

The lead would prove short-lived, as Lycoming had a five-run third inning on the strength of five hits and two errors. Lycoming would add another run in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh to take the 8-2 victory.

AMCAT LEADERS

The AMCATS totaled three hits on the day, as Jacqueline Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) and Sabrina Carreira (West Hartford, Conn.) joined Gould in the hits column.

Freshman Ally Hamelin (Greenfield, Mass.) took the loss in the circle, scattering 10 hits, five earned runs, and one walk over the complete-game effort. She recorded one strikeout on the day.

LYCOMING LEADERS

Morgan Kunes finished 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Seven other members of the team recorded hits, while Elisa Novak and Cayla Treaster both finished with two RBI apiece.

Kristi Weaver pitched a complete-game for Lycoming, scattering three hits and two runs while striking out six and walking zero.

WHAT'S NEXT

The AMCATS take on La Roche College tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. and New Jersey City at 1:30 p.m. in the team's second-to-last day of action in South Carolina.
