Men’s Volleyball: AMCATS Drop 3-0 Decision to Wildcats

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Johnson and Wales University on Monday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. Anna Maria fell to the Wildcats by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-21.

Following the match, the AMCATS now sit at 1-16 and 0-12 in GNAC action, while JWU improves to 16-10 and 8-5 in conference play.

 

Freshman Dylan Copeland (Haverhill, Mass.) led Anna Maria with a team-high seven kills. Jonathan Gallardo (Marlboro, Mass.) and Ty Disco (Pittsfield, Mass.) both added six kills apiece, while freshman Peter Griffenkranz (Deer Park, NY) paced the defense with a match-high eight digs. Michael Goncalves (Milford, Mass.) added seven digs, while Jeffrey LaRochelle (Plainville, Mass.) and Copeland posted six digs each.

 

Freshman Michael Gaudelli (Hicksville, NY) dished out 21 assists with one service ace.

 

Johnson & Wales saw 17 kills from Kyle MacKnight while Chris Espinola chipped in with 13. Aseah Thomas led the Wildcats defense with eight digs. Junior setter J.J. Bessette handed out a match-high 42 assists.

 

JWU totaled an impressive .302 hitting percentage on the evening while holding the AMCATS to a .178 hitting percentage.

 

Anna Maria returns to action tomorrow night when they travel to Albertus Magnus for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
