Men’s Volleyball Earns GNAC Sportsmanship Award

Paxton, Mass. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced that the Anna Maria College Men’s Volleyball Team is the 2014 recipient of the GNAC Team Sportsmanship Award as voted on by their league peers.

Boston, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match as the Leopards defeated fifth-ranked Rivier (3-1) and Anna Maria (3-0). Rivier beat Anna Maria 3-0 in the middle match of the day.
AMCATS Drop Home Finale To Falcons, 3-0

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's volleyball team lost their final home contest of the 2014 season as they dropped three straight sets to visiting Albertus Magnus College, (25-14, 25-22, 25-19), in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday evening at Fuller Activities Center. The AMCATS slide to 1-18 (0-14 GNAC) on the season, while the Falcons improve to 11-10 (5-9 GNAC).

BOSTON, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men’s volleyball team fell to Emmanuel College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-13) and lost to Emerson College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-14) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match on Saturday afternoon in the Jean Yawkey Center. The pair of losses, Anna Maria fell to 1-15 on the season and 0-11 in GNAC action.

Paxton, Mass – Anna Maria College was swept in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s volleyball tri-match with Lasell College and Mount Ida College on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Activities Center. The AMCATS fell to Lasell College in straight sets in the opening match of the day followed by a 3-1 defeat to Mount Ida in the last contest of the day. Anna Maria dips to 1-11 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men’s volleyball team was downed by #6 Rivier University 3-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening at Fuller Center. Game scores were 25-10, 21-25, 25-13, 25-16. With the win, the Raiders improve to 18-5, 6-0 in GNAC action while the AMCAT fall to 1-9, 0-5 in conference play.

Newbury held off an AMCAT squad with set scores of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-19. With the win the Nighthawks improve to 4-15, while the AMCATS fall to 1-8 on the season.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson Lions, earning a 25-17, 25-16 and 25-10 victory against Anna Maria College in GNAC play. Dimitri Gorenc (nine kills, 12 points), Jackson Wiley (10 kills, 15 points), and Brendan McGonigle (28 assists, 9.5 points) led the Lions to an important in-conference win. Connor Burton added seven kills and five digs for EC.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After dropping the opening set, the Anna Maria men’s volleyball team stormed back to take three straight and defeat Lesley University 3-1 (18-25, 27-25, 25-13, 25-12) in non-conference play tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. The win marks the first in AMCAT program history as they improve to 1-3 in their inaugural season.
