Men’s Volleyball Swept in Home Tri-Match

Paxton, Mass – Anna Maria College was swept in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's volleyball tri-match with Lasell College and Mount Ida College on Saturday afternoon at Fuller Activities Center. The AMCATS fell to Lasell College in straight sets in the opening match of the day followed by a 3-1 defeat to Mount Ida in the last contest of the day. Anna Maria dips to 1-11 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

Anna Maria fell to Lasell 25-20, 28-26 and 25-15 in the three set loss. Freshman Peter Griffenkranz paced AMC with nine kills on 13 attempts with a .615 hitting percentage while registering seven digs. Outside hitter Dylan Copeland contributed six kills, seven digs and an ace and freshman Michael Gaudelli dished out a team-high 14 assists to go along with five digs.  Ty Discoe had a pair of blocks, five digs and an ace in the loss.

Anna Maria 1, Mount Ida 3

The AMCATS scored a 25-20 third set victory before falling 3-1 (25-10, 25-14, 20-25, 25-22) to the Mustangs. Dylan Copeland once again led the AMCATS offensive attack notching ten kills, eleven digs and two blocks. Freshman Jonathan Alicea roamed the back line with seven digs, while setter Gaudelli handed out 18 assists and tallied two service aces in the game.

Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Johnson & Wales University for a GNAC match-up beginning at 7:00 p.m.
