Trai Weaver Represents AMC at The National Bowl

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – This past weekend marked the fourth year of The National Bowl, a subsidiary of the FCS National bowl which is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of the top senior college football players from FCS schools; previously Division I-A. The National Bowl is specific to Division two and Division three athletes, giving them a chance to play in front of NFL and Canadian Football League (CFL) scouts. The weekend festivities are held at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Fla. This year, senior wide receiver Trai Weaver (Waterbury, Conn) represented Anna Maria College football at the event.

Weaver had an outstanding year for the AMCATS, He caught 51 passes and led the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) in receiving with 911 yards and 12 touchdowns. For his career weaver played in all 40 games for the AMCATS, catching 119 passes for 2,033 yards and 20 touchdowns. His 911 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns are also records for Anna Maria College Football.

Trai's season has been filled with high honors as he was named to the ECFC first team All-Conference, the Division Three All-New England Team, and first team Worcester Area Football Association All-Star Team.

"I am proud of Trai and all of his accolades as a player." Said AMC head football coach Dan Mulrooney, "Trai brought a work ethic every day that was infectious and I'm happy his hard work has been recognized. He left his signature on this program and it will last for years to come and sets the bar high for AMCAT Football."  

In the National Bowl, Trai caught three passes for 44 yards for the American team in a 48-13 rout of the National team. Two of Weaver's three catches went for 17 yards and first downs. The other was a 10-yard reception on second down and 14 yards to go.

"It was a great experience to play with players from so many schools around the country." Weaver said, "It was a privilege to play in front of so many scouts and represent Anna Maria College on a national stage."

While he hopes his playing days aren't over, Trai plans on attending law school after graduating from Anna Maria College.
