Women’s Lacrosse Hosts Senior Day

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team lost 16-5 to visiting Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Caparso Field in Paxton.

SENIOR DAY:
Prior to the game, the AMCATS recognized their graduating senior class as part of senior day. Cassie Micklesavage (Pottstown, PA), Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, MA), Nicole Maffei (Wayne, NJ), Jenna Grande (Whitman, MA), Dawnisha Franklin (Amite, LA) and Tabitha Franceschet (Westfield, MA) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for their time with the women's lacrosse program. Although their time with the program may be ending they will forever be a part of the AMCAT family.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Playing in the final home game of her storied career, Rufo scored two goals – the first on an unassisted shot with 7:35 left in the first half and the second on a free-position with 1:54 to go in the third. She also tallied six ground balls and seven caused turnovers on the day.
  • Colby Sawyer junior attacker Sydney Stevens (Laconia, NH) dominated for the Chargers with five goals and three assists on the day.
  • Anna Maria freshman midfielder Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA) scored a goal with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Colby Sawyer first year midfielder Heather Hanson (Marstons Mills, MA) filled the stat line with four goals, an assist, seven ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers.
  • Anna Maria sophomore midfielder Raegan Hachey (Winthrop, ME) added a goal with four ground balls.
  • Colby Sawyer first year midfielder Sophia Kuhlthau (Cheshire, CT) added four goals.
  • Micklesavage tallied six ground balls in her final home contest, while Maffei had three with two caused turnovers.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be back on the field on the on Tuesday when they conclude their season at Rivier University in a 7:00 p.m. game.
