Women's Lacrosse Closes Out Season With Loss To Cadets

PAXTON, MA - On Tuesday, April 23rd the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team hosted Cadets of Norwich University. The AMCATS lost the game 18-7.

The Cadets would start the scoring off the AMCATS with two quick goals, taking the lead early 2 to 0 over the AMCATS. It would then be the AMCATS to score their first goal of the game to cut the Cadets lead in half making it a 2 to 1 game. It would then be the Cadets to dominate with eight straight unanswered goals taking a 10 to 1 lead halfway into the second quarter. It would then be the AMCATS offense to score three quick goals in the second quarter to cut the Cadets lead to 10 to 4. The Cadets offense would continue to dominate after the AMCATS three quick goals as the Cadets would go on to score seven unanswered goals increasing their lead to 17 to 4 halfway into the fourth quarter.

The AMCATS would strike two more times in the fourth quarter both goals coming from Sarah Gonzalez making it a 17 to 6 lead for the Cadets. It would not be long before the Cadets would strike again to regain the lead by 12 making it 18 to 6. The AMCATS offense would continue to fight scoring one more goal with two seconds left to make it a final of 18 to 7 in favor of the Cadets.

Inside The Box:

  • The AMCATS would wrap up the regular season with a total of 154 saves of the season, 113 goals, 44 assists, 147 draw controls, and a total of 351 ground balls.
  • Riley Michaud lead the AMCATS and had a career high in points, goals and assist this season with 23 goals, 12 assists and 35 points this season.
  • Christine Ijawet as a freshman got 18 goals and 6 assists with a total of 24 points this season.
