Women's Lacrosse Shuts The Door On Hornets 13-0

PAXTON, MA - On Tuesday, March 13th the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team hosted the Vermont State Lyndon Hornets for a non conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 13-0.

The AMCATS started things off early with a goal from Riley Michaud just thirty seconds into the first quarter. Almost three minutes later, Sarah Gonzalez would line up for a free position shot leading to the AMCATS second goal of the evening. Ivy Ballou was the next AMCAT to score as she helped improve their lead to three. The AMCATS would later close out the first half with a man down goal off the stick of Kyana Altif off a pass from Olivia Stump. The first quarter would end with the AMCATS leading 4-0 over the Hornets.

The second quarter would replicate the first as the AMCATS managed to put away four more goal before the end of the first half. Christine Ijawet started the quarter with a goal off a free position shot. Less than a minute later, Olivia Stump would tuck in her first goal of the night off a scramble in front of the net. Ijawet would line up again shortly after for her second free position goal of the game before Lydia Rosen closed out the half with a goal off a pass from Ivy Ballou to make it an 8-0 game.

Raegan Hachey would start the second half off with a goal off of a free position shot. Hachey would score just twenty seconds later off a pass from Riley Michaud to improve the AMCATS lead to ten. Those would be the only two goals scored in the third quarter.

The AMCATS would end up tucking in three more goals in the fourth quarter as Riley Michaud opened things up with a goal off a free position shot, with just over thirteen minutes left to play. Ijawet would tuck her third goal of the night off an assist from Raegan Hachey to improve the AMCATS lead to twelve. Ivy Ballou closed the game out for the AMCATS making it 13-0 with just over three minutes left to play.

  • This marks the AMCATS first ever shutout victory.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, March 16th where they will host the Albertus Magnus Falcons for their first conference game of the season. Opening draw is set for 12:00pm at Caparso Field in Paxton, MA.
