Lions Roar Past AMCATS in Men's Soccer

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson Men's Soccer Team powered to a 4-1 win over the Anna Maria AMCATS Wednesday night. On the night the Lions scored two goals off headers en route to improving to 8-7 on the year and 5-4 in conference play while the Anna Maria AMCATS drop to 2-13 overall and 0-9-1 in conference play.

The first half saw the Lions step up in the first few minutes of play with a beautiful goal coming from a throw in from Patrick Lowndes which Adam Halliday headed to Juan Ossa who put it away with a header to the middle of the net. EC followed it up with yet another ball off of Alex Van Pelt's head that tipped off an Anna Maria defender and into the net to make it a quick 2-0.

The Lions weren't quite done in the half yet though as Jacob Lawrence put away a cross from Alex Sypsomos with one-touch point blank shot on net that was untouched on its way in.

The second half saw a flood of Emerson subs as all three goalies saw action before Annia Maria finally scratched onto the scoreboard in the 60th minute off a penalty kick. Senior Enco Lika scored for the visitors.The Lions made it 4-1 as Alex Van Pelt set up Alex Sypsomos who tapped in a goal to the bottom right corner to end it.

Anna Maria returns to action on Friday afternoon when they host WPI in non-conference action starting at 4:00pm.
