Men's Lacrosse Picks Up Second GNAC Win

Leicester, Mass.- The Hawks of Becker College suffered a 17-8 loss to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Anna Maria got on the board 2:21 into the game when Chris Summers (Long Valley, N.J.) used a spin move to beat Hawks goalie Josh Smith (Lewes, Del.) top shelf. Becker tied the game nine seconds later when Michael Whalen (Warwick, R.I.) fed a speedy John DeAngelis (Swapscott, Mass.), who ran straight down the center of the field for the goal.

The excitement was short lived for the Hawks as the AMCATS scored eight unanswered goals in just 6:15. Chris Summers finished with a game high five goals off the bench for Anna Maria. Senior Mike Saulnier (Wrentham, Mass.) chipped in with four goals, three of them coming in the second quarter. Grant Pilkington (Warwick, R.I.) also got in on the scoring with a hat-trick; while Jason Baker (Billerica, Mass.) made his presence felt with two goals.

Anna Maria goalie Andrew Ellis (Fitchburg, Mass.) made ten saves as the AMCATS improved their record to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in GNAC. Anna Maria will try to even their record in the GNAC when they host Rivier College next Wednesday, April 11, at 7:00pm.

Becker was led by junior Jeff Petersen (Syracuse, N.Y.), who finished with four goals. John DeAngelis added two goals as the Hawks fell to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in league play. Becker goalies Josh Smith and Michael Munoz (Avon, Conn.) combined to make seven stops.
