AMCATS and Peterson honored by TCCC

PAXTON, Mass. (04.29.11) – The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team was announced as the recipient of The Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Team Sportsmanship Award, while junior defenseman Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, R.I.) was named to the All-TCCC Honorable Mention Team on Friday afternoon.

In just their third season of existence, the AMCATS demonstrated the ability to play the game with energy and spirit while also showing the proper respect for their opponents and the officials. The 2011 season also marked a historic accomplishment for the AMCATS, as the team earned the program's first conference victory during a 9-7 win over Nichols at AMCAT field on March 24th.

Peterson was a dynamic player for Anna Maria this season, showing the ability to play at either end of the field. As the team's top defender, he led the AMCATS with 108 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers this season. However, he also contributed at the offensive end, tying for the team-lead in assists while also scoring 11 goals. Peterson finished with double-digit ground balls in a game five times this year, including a season-best 12 GB's during the season finale versus Wentworth in which also had four points on three goals and an assist. As a two-sport athlete, Peterson will return for his senior year as a member of both the men's basketball and lacrosse teams.
